ATAPS

What is Access to Allied Psychological Services (ATAPS)?

The ATAPS Project is a component of the Better Outcomes in Mental Health Care Initiative (BOiMH) funded by the Australian Government Department of Health and Ageing and managed locally by GP Network Northside.

The ATAPS Project provides a referral pathway for GPs in the GP Network Northside and Northern Sydney GP Network areas, to refer patients with mental health disorders to low cost psychological services.  The project links GPs with psychologists to provide patients, who would benefit from focussed psychological strategies, with access to these services.

Who is Eligible?

The ATAPS pathway is designed to target patients experiencing perinatal (antenatal and postnatal) depression, youth, Health Care Card Holders, low income earners, patients experiencing financial difficulties, Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Communities (CALD), Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people  and patients who are, or who are at risk of, homelessness.

Perinatal Depression

Additionally ATAPS aims, under the National Perinatal Depression Initiative, to improve prevention and early detection of antenatal and postnatal depression, and to provide better care, support and treatment for expectant and new mothers experiencing depression.
