The GPNN Practice Support Team offers assistance in quality practice management for both accredited and non-accredited practices.

Practice Support Officers provide free on-site education to all staff on correct procedures for sterilisation, infection control, cold chain management, and recall and reminder systems.

One-on-one and group training in utilising clinical software, particularly focusing on tips to save time and improve patient care; and support and resources for GP and practice staff recruitment, Medicare Australia online claiming, and computer security, are also available.

Accreditation

Practice Support Officers provide comprehensive, on-site assistance in meeting the Royal Australian College of General Practitioners (RACGP) Standards for General Practice, to help practices become accredited.

The Standards cover the following key areas of general practice:

• Practice services
• Rights and needs of patients
• Safety, quality improvement and education
• Practice management
• Physical factors

Becoming accredited assists in providing best practice care for your patients.

Practice Support Officers can assist with identifying where the practice is not meeting the Standards (gap analysis practice visit), education and resources, including templates which can be customised to your practice.

These services are available to practices at any stage of the accreditation process, from newly opened to established practices; those undergoing accreditation for the first time; and those experienced with the accreditation process.
