National Prescribing Service

GPNN works in partnership with the National Prescribing Service (NPS) to bring local health professionals accurate, balanced, evidence-based information about medicines, through its educational visiting program.

GPNN will seek to:

  • Improve health and reduce medication mishaps through better prescribing and quality use of medicines (QUM)
  • Improve QUM awareness and competence for health professionals and consumers
  • Build the capacity of health professionals and consumers to find and appraise accurate & relevant information about medicines
  • Provide local coordination of QUM activities

GPNN provides:

  • educational visits & small group case study discussions
  • workshops that encourage development of critical appraisal skills
  • local promotion of nationally conducted clinical audits
  • education for consumers about QUM issues

GPNN has two experienced facilitators, who can come to your surgery for either 30-minute one-to-one meetings or 60-minute small group case study discussions, at a time that suits you.
